The town is mostly flat, so getting around on foot or by bike is a breeze. Don’t have a bike? A few local Whangamatā businesses offer options to hire one—or maybe even a Beach Buggy!
However you choose to travel, one of the first things you should do is check out the beach. Here are a few favourite spots:
Hunt Road – perfect for catching a view of The Bar (famous surf break).
Wharf – a great spot to check ocean conditions and the harbour (or manu's).
Surf Club – offers a full view of the entire beach (grab a coffee and soak in the sea air vibe).
